.....since I have updated this blog. Since the post on June 25th, I have been back to Roswell for follow up visits with my oncologist, Janarthanan, Bagirathan, MD.
I have joined 2 Clinical Trials .
One is a Hormonal Therapy trial and if you click on this link you can read all about it - what happens, what they do, and what I will be going through.
Because I am premenopausal, and my tumor fed on hormones, they will be giving me an injection once a month to shut down the function of my ovaries so that I will not produce hormones. Also, since they are shutting down my ovaries, that means that I will be thrown into Menopause. Menopause can cause osteoporosis and that is why I joined the bisphosphonates trial and hopefully it will keep my bones strong and healthy. I have already received one shot and a pill to take twice a day. No hot flashes or night sweats so far.......
I will be starting my Radiation Therapy on the 24th - it will consist of localized radiation to the left breast 5 days a week for 6 weeks. I have already met with my Radiation team and they are all very nice and extremely informative. Fernando, Shaneli, MD is my Radiation Dr. I have already been in for mapping of my radiation, that is where they map out, on your breast, exactly where the rays of radiation will be targeting. Then they tattoo little spots on your skin the exact places the radiation will border. You can barely see the spots, but they will always be there. Nothing is painful so far and hopefully it will stay that way!
I have started physical therapy since my arm is still stiff from the elbow to my wrist.
She says that I have to exercise it twice a day so that I can stretch the "cords" that go from the inside of my elbow to my wrist. Hopefully I will be able to lift things soon. Anything over about 20 pounds is still painful to lift with my left arm.
Well...........that's it for now - I will update it again soon........
