A Change of plans.....

Friday, May 25th, 2007. Since Janeen had to go to Ohio, and everyone had appts and things of their own to do, my "father-in-law" was wonderful enough to escort me to my appt. (Poor thing had to sit in a room full of women, with soap operas blasting at him from the tv! Probably the last place on earth a man would ever think he was going to have to be. He sure was a trooper though!! ) Thanx Boss!!

Anyway.... straight to ultrasound I go and wait...and wait..and wait some more....

Then I am called into the room to meet with Ermelinda Bonaccio, MD. She was very, very nice. She was also very informative and willing to answer any/all questions. I also gave her Janeen's phone number to call her and tell her what the findings were.

(Because, every 3rd word is still...........you got it..............double breast cancer!!)

She could not find the spots on the ultrasound, but kept going back to look at the MRI Images and coming back in to see if she could find it on the ultrasound. After 4 tries..........still can't see it! That means that I have to come back on the 6th of June for another biopsy.

Hi, Janeen here..........on my way to Ohio, I received two phone calls. One from the radiologist and one from the nurse practioner (NP-Karen). Karen told me she has to go for a biopsy of the right breast because the radiologist was unable to see the suspicious area on ultrasound. The biopsy is scheduled for June 6th. I asked her what happens if this suspicious area is cancer. She told me we would have to discuss with Frann a Mastectomy . A Lumpectomy in both sides is not a possible option. As I was speaking with her, Roswell called in on the other line.......it was the radiologist. To make a long story short.......she found two areas of concern - one has to be monitored every six months by a breast MRI even though it has a benign appearance. The other one she wants to biopsy with an MRI guided core biopsy of the breast as the appearance of this one had some abnormalities around the edges.

Janeen, Frann certainly is lucky to have you!

Frann, Good luck next week. I'll be thinking about you. I'm not working these days, so if you need someone to go with you to any appointments, I'm available.

Love, Aunt Marsha
